Is it safe to use protein powders during pregnancy or breast-feeding?

No safety profile has been established for children or pregnant or lactating woman. A qualified healthcare professional should be consulted before adding a protein powder or supplement to the diet.

I am gluten intolerant. Can I use the products in the Red 8 range?

Yes. All the protein powders in the Red 8 range are gluten free.

Can children use the Red 8 protein powders?

Max Out is specifically designed for teenagers (13yrs+) as a supplement to a healthy diet.

All other protein powders in the Red8 range are only suitable for children aged 15yrs+.

Are there any contraindications to taking protein powders?
  • Protein powders are contraindicated in those allergic to any of the substances in the protein powder or those allergic to lactose or dairy products.
  • The consumption of too much protein may be unhealthy. Protein is broken down in the body by the kidneys. If a person has kidney problems, the consumption of protein may need to be limited. The daily recommended consumption of protein is based on a patient's weight, age, and activity level.
  • Dietary consumption of soy-based protein concentrate or soy isolate does not seem to be associated with any significant side effects other than mild gastrointestinal issues such as bloating and flatulence associated with any high protein diet.
  • Severe over-ingestion of whey protein can cause liver damage or failure.
  • No safety profile has been established for children or pregnant or lactating woman. A qualified healthcare professional should be consulted before adding a protein powder or supplement to the diet.

 

Is the Red 8 range suitable for diabetics?

It is recommended that anyone with a health condition, including diabetes, check with (or be under the supervision of) a healthcare professional before commencing supplementation with protein powders.

Note: Red8 protein powders are sweetened using the herb Stevia. The sweetener stevia is made from sweet compounds that are extracted from the stevia plant.

Can someone who is lactose intollerant use the Red 8 protein powders?

It is recommended that anyone with a health condition, including lactose intollerance, check with (or be under the supervision of) a healthcare professional before commencing supplementation with protein powders.

Note: Whey based protein powders are derived from a dairy product. Red8 Soy Protein, Pea Protein or Rice Protein can be used as an alternative for people with lactose intollerance.

Is the glucosamine in 50+ dervied from shellfish?

Yes. So best avoided by anyone with a shellfish or seafood allergy.

Can I use Red 8 protein powders as a meal replacement?

Red8 protein powders are designed to provide supplementary nutrition for an active lifestyle.
Red8 products are not meal replacement.

Is your soy protein GMO free?

Yes. Red 8 only uses reliable sources of GMO free soy protein in its manufacturing process.

Is your pea protein alkaline?

Our Pea protein has not been tested for its alkalinity profile.

Is your rice protein sourced from white or brown rice?

Red8 rice protein powder is made from raw white rice.

What is the whey in Red8 protein powders derived from?

The whey in Red 8 protein powders is a by-product of cheese making and is sourced from grass fed cows.

Is the red 8 packaging recyclable?

Red8 protein powder pots are made using High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), the caps are made using Polypropylene - Both are recyclable. The foil bags are unfortunately not recyclable.

Are Red8 protein powders non-denatured and produced without heat?

Yes. Red8 protein powders are low-temparature micro-filtered powders and therefore the protein content has not been denatured (structually altered) during manufacture.

How much calcium is contained in the whey powders?

Red8 does not test or record the calcium content of protein powders.

Is the Red 8 range WADA approved?

To date Red8 has not sought WADA certification for any of its range.

Is the milk used in Red8 whey pasteurized?

Yes. Whey powder comes from whey liquid which is a by-product of cheese manufacturing process – which can only be made using pasteurized milk.

What is the process used to extract the stevia glycosides?

The stevia glycosides are extracted using water.
